This is my first knitted project. It's a Ravenclaw scarf because I'm a Harry Potter fan. The blue yarn is wool, dyed by a good friend of mine. The gray is acrylic (Red Heart, I think). Knit on size 7 circular needles. This picture was taken before the fringe was added.
This is another "unfinished" picture, but it's a good one, so I'm using it. This was my second knitting project, a scarf for my husband. This one was done flat in Knit 1/Purl 1 rib. This really improved my purling a lot. This scarf ended up nice and long and it does have fringe now. Also, the stray ends that you see here have been woven in nicely. This is all acrylic Red Heart worsted yarn.
Another unfinished picture!! This was a "commission." My sister requested a light blue and black scarf in chunky yarn. This scarf was knit on bamboo 10 1/2 circular needles in Lamb's Pride Bulky (85% Wool and 15% Mohair) in Onyx and Winter Blue. Yes, it's fringed now.
My first pair of socks!!! I used size 3 wood double-pointed needles (five of them) and variegated Regia (75% Wool, 25% Polyamide) to work these up.
crafti gave me the yarn, the needles, and great handmade instructions. I'm very happy with them. This was my first attempt at circular knitting on double-pointed needles.
These dishtowels were made from a free Lion Brand pattern on their website. At the time you didn't have to register to view it, but you do now. Anyway, I used their Lion Cotton (100% cotton) in Candy Colors. I got two towels out of one ball of yarn. I used circular size 7 needles, but I knitted flat.
My first hat! This was a practice hat for my planned ChemoCap charity work. This hat is now owned by a friend of mine, on whom it is very fetching. Worked up in size 7 needles (both double-pointed and circular).
Second try at the hat pattern. This time using Caron Simply Soft, same size needles as above. This hat will be donated to the local cancer center if it washes up soft enough.
This is a work in progress. It's going to be a hat for my sister to match the scarf above. This is just the band; the rest of the hat will be blue and black wide stripes. This is my first cabling project! I like it a lot. Leftover yarn from the scarf project and the same size of needles.
UPDATE: The hat is finished as of 1:15 a.m. 07/23/06. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. I hope it will fit my sister and that she'll get a lot of use out of it and the scarf.
Based on the Coronet pattern from Knitty. I used bulky yarn though. For the cable band I followed the pattern precisely, but the upper part I had to pick up 90 stitches around the edge and begin the decreases earlier. Though the stripes are not smooth, I think the slight swirl effect of the decreases (which are causing the jogs) adds interest to the hat.
My first real ChemoCap (pattern). This pattern takes me about three days to knit. I meant to count my hours but forgot. This is done in Plymouth Encore Worsted (color 7304 lot 22863), on birch double-pointed needles (#6). I don't recommend doing the whole hat that way, as I started losing stitches off the ends of my needles when I got to the brim. I definitely should have switched to circular needles for that last part. After washing, this hat will be donated to the local cancer center.
I learned how to make flowers! I added a flower to the blue cap and the gray cap.
Here is my "real" second Chemo cap. I again used Plymouth Encore and size 7 needles . The pattern is from Head Huggers, the Rolled-Brim Hat.
I made the Cleaves! Lamb's Pride Bulky in Brite Blue, size 11 bamboo needles (both dps and a giant circular). I cast on on a Saturday night and finished on a Wednesday night. The ends are not woven in yet, and it's not washed/blocked, but the knitting is done! Fast project. Pretty easy, too.
The Cleaves, as modeled by my sister!
